2027 Taiwan Lantern Festival in Miaoli to Showcase the Technological Strength of Local Industries

The Miaoli County Government is planning a dedicated Corporate Lantern Zone for the 2027 Taiwan Lantern Festival in Miaoli, inviting Porite Taiwan, a leading powder metallurgy manufacturer deeply rooted in Miaoli, to participate under the theme “Precision in Motion, Smart Manufacturing for the Future.”

Transforming precision components into light-based art, the installation will feature a giant futuristic humanoid robot, colorful interlocking gear platforms, and dynamic flowing LED lighting effects. Through these visual elements, visitors will be able to discover the powerful technologies behind small precision components, while local “hidden champion” companies step into the spotlight and demonstrate Miaoli’s manufacturing strength and its connection to the global industrial supply chain.

Miaoli County Magistrate Chung Dong-Chin stated that Miaoli is one of Taiwan’s most important hubs for the powder metallurgy industry, accounting for more than 60% of the country’s production capacity and possessing a strong foundation in precision manufacturing. Porite Taiwan is an outstanding representative of the local industry. Through this lantern festival, the sophisticated technologies behind small components are transformed into light and art, allowing visitors not only to enjoy the festival, but also to discover Miaoli’s hidden champions and understand the key role the county plays in the global industrial value chain.

Porite Taiwan has been deeply rooted in Miaoli for many years, specializing in powder metallurgy and precision metal component manufacturing. Its products are widely applied in areas including automotive components, fuel cells, robotics, and liquid cooling solutions.

For this installation, Porite Taiwan uses its core manufacturing technologies as the creative starting point, transforming critical components that are normally hidden inside machinery into the main visual highlights of the lantern festival. The centerpiece of the installation is a giant humanoid robot with a powerful and futuristic appearance, symbolizing the development of smart manufacturing and automation.

The gear-shaped platform is enhanced with flowing LED light effects, allowing different colors of light to travel along the gear contours and create a dynamic visual representation of energy transmission. Together, these elements tell the story of:

To create a more interactive experience for visitors, a dedicated display rack will be installed beside the main lantern platform. It will feature a full-scale 1:1 “Porite Technology Guardian Shield,” identical to the shield held by the giant robot.

Visitors of all ages will be welcome to pick up the shield themselves, physically experience the weight of technology, transform into “technology superheroes” protecting the future, and take memorable photos that are both impressive and fun. The interactive experience is expected to become one of the most popular photo spots at the festival.

The Department of Commerce and Industrial Development of Miaoli County Government stated that the Corporate Lantern Zone is intended not only to showcase light-based art, but also to help the public better understand Miaoli’s unique industrial characteristics through the creative participation of local enterprises.
